How ABS brakes works

Abbreviation-

ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)

Introduction-

✓ ABS is the one of the most safety measures in our Automobile Industry.

✓ In our Government order minimum 125 cc bikes are having ABS Brakes.
Because to reduce a accident.

✓ ABS helps to avoid wheel lock in your bike.

✓ when we apply a brake in wheel at normal speed range the ABS is not activate.

Parts of ABS -

✓ wheel speed sensor.

✓ oil reservoir.

ECU ( Electrical Control Unit ).

✓ Hydraulic unit.

Construction -


✓ wheel speed sensor is connected in the disc caliper.

ECU ( Electrical Control Unit ) is connected to the wheel speed sensor.

✓ Hydraulic unit is connected to the ECU and helps to activate a ABS.

Working -

✓ You drive at high speed the suddenly (dog or children) came across the vehicle.

✓ we will  apply a brake at high pressure.

✓ At this time wheel speed sensor will measures the actual speed in the vehicle and send a message to the ECU at fraction of seconds.

✓ Finally , ECU send a signal to hydraulic unit.

✓ Then the hydraulic unit will pass the fluid to the disc caliper.

✓ Disc caliper consist of brake pad.
When the pad will helps to stop the wheel.

✓ At this time , the wheel will lock by lock (விட்டு விட்டு) gradually Brake will be applied.

Types of ABS -

Single channel ABS will only apply in front wheel and Rear wheel will not connected in ABS Control Unit.



Dual channel ABS will apply both wheel at same time in your bike.



Advantage of ABS -

✓ To avoid wheel lock in our vehicle.

✓ To avoid Accident.

✓ To reduce stopping distance in your bike.

Disadvantage of ABS -

✓ High cost when compared to other varient.

✓ Maintenance services is high.

✓ If oil is drain in reservoir suddenly the wheel will lock. So daily check oil reservoir.
